Tooth-Coloured Fillings in Calgary

A tooth-coloured filling is made from a composite resin material that bonds directly to your tooth structure. Unlike older metal amalgam fillings, composite fillings are shade matched to your natural teeth, so the repair is virtually invisible. They also require less removal of healthy tooth structure than metal fillings, since the material bonds rather than needing to be mechanically retained.

Your dentist will examine the tooth and confirm the filling is the right treatment. The area is numbed with local anesthesia, then any decayed tissue is carefully removed. The composite resin is applied in layers, shaped to match your natural bite, and hardened. Your dentist will polish the filling smooth and check your bite before you leave.

If a tooth is more extensively damaged than a filling can address, we may recommend Crowns & Bridges instead. For cosmetic repairs like closing small gaps or fixing chips on front teeth, Composite Bonding uses a similar material with a more cosmetic focus.

The cost of a filling depends on the size of the cavity and how many surfaces of the tooth are involved. We follow the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, direct bill most insurance providers, and offer 0% financing. Contact us for a personalized quote after your exam.
